The application process for the 2019 Daniel W. Dowling Scholarship Program is open

Since its founding, Post #769 has offered support to the children of our veterans through this scholarship. We remain committed to honoring the memory and service of our comrades by ensuring their children are afforded the best possible educational opportunities. Please complete the form to get notified when we are accepting application for 2018.

Who Can Apply

  • High School Seniors accepted to an accredited college or university
  • Students who reside within the Post #769 community and/or a family member of an active and in good standing American Legion* (AL), Sons of the American Legion* (SAL), or an American Legion Auxiliary* (ALA) member

How to Apply

All applications must include a letter of acceptance from an accredited university or college, proof of current cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher, and a 500 word essay describing “How can I encourage my friends to show pride in being an American”.

Essay and questions must be typed on a separate paper, double spaced in 12 point font, and attached to the Application.

Applications are judged on their own merit. Please make sure to include any information that makes you stand out as an exceptional candidate to be awarded our 2017 scholarship.

Applications must be received by May 15, 2019.  Applications post marked after the deadline will not be considered.

*Applicants of The American Legion (AL, SAL and ALA) members will be given special consideration.
